JEE Advanced is the entrance exam for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is conducted each year by one of the IITs, in rotation, under the Joint Admission Board. Only candidates who qualify in JEE Main Paper 1 can register. The 2027 date has not been announced; here is what is known and how to prepare.

Who can appear
- You must be among the top candidates in JEE Main 2027 Paper 1 (the number is fixed each year by the Joint Admission Board) and meet the age, Class 12 and attempt rules in the JEE Advanced 2027 bulletin.
- A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced at most twice, in two consecutive years.
JEE Advanced paper pattern
- Two compulsory papers of 3 hours each on the same day, each covering Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- The question types and marking change from year to year. Recent papers have mixed single-correct and multiple-correct questions (with partial marks), numerical-answer questions and matching questions, some with negative marking.
How to prepare
- Practise every question type in each subject, not only single-correct MCQs: multiple-correct questions with partial marking decide many ranks.
- In the last months, sit both papers on the same day with the real break between them, to build the stamina the exam needs.
- Keep JEE Main practice going until your last session, since the JEE Main score decides whether you can register for JEE Advanced.

The date has not been announced yet (as of 2 November 2026). JEE Advanced was held on 18 May 2025 and 17 May 2026; the 2027 date will be on jeeadv.ac.in.
Which IIT will conduct JEE Advanced 2027?
The organising IIT is announced by the Joint Admission Board with the exam notice. Check jeeadv.ac.in for the official announcement.
