JEE Main 2027 paper pattern (Paper 1, B.E./B.Tech)

  • Paper 1 is a computer-based test of 3 hours with 75 questions for 300 marks: 25 questions each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • In each subject, Section A has 20 multiple-choice questions and Section B has 5 numerical-value questions, all compulsory.
  • Marking: +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong answer in both sections, including the numerical questions. An unanswered question gets 0.

How to use the weeks before your session

  • Finish the syllabus first, then move to full mocks: one complete 75-question paper a week, in a single 3-hour sitting, on a computer if you can, since the real exam is computer-based.
  • With negative marking now on numerical questions too, do not guess a numerical answer you have not worked out. Practise leaving a hard question and coming back to it.
  • After every mock, list each wrong answer as a concept gap, a calculation slip or a time problem, and fix the concept gaps before the next paper.
