How to apply: the four steps

  • Step 1, registration: on jeemain.nta.nic.in, register (you can sign in through MeriPehchaan), create a password and note the application number. The same number is used for both sessions.
  • Step 2, application form: log in with the application number and password, fill in your details, choose the paper and up to four exam cities, enter your qualifications, take a live photograph with the camera and upload your documents.
  • Step 3, fee: pay online by net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. Bank processing charges and GST are extra. Keep the proof of payment.
  • Step 4, confirmation page: download and print it. Your application counts only when the fee is received; the confirmation page appears only after a successful payment.

What to keep ready before you start

  • Photograph: a recent colour passport-size photo, face covering about 80% (ears visible, no mask), white background, JPG/JPEG, 10 kB to 200 kB. A live photo is also taken by webcam or by scanning a QR code with your phone.
  • Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10 kB to 100 kB.
  • Class 10 certificate or marksheet: PDF, 50 kB to 300 kB.
  • If applicable: disability or UDID certificate, certificate of physical limitation to write, or a non-Indian passport, each as a PDF of 50 kB to 300 kB.
  • A mobile number and email that you (or a parent) can open: one number and one email can be used for only one application form.

Who can apply

  • There is no age limit.
  • You can apply if you passed Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2025 or 2026, or are appearing in 2027.
  • Admission to a particular institute can have its own age or marks rules: check them separately.

Exam cities near Roorkee

  • You choose up to four exam cities, from the state of your permanent or present address. In Uttarakhand the bulletin lists Almora, Dehradun, Haldwani, Pauri Garhwal and Roorkee.
  • Question papers are in English or English and Hindi at every centre in India (and in 11 other languages in their own states).

Mistakes that cost students their form

  • Filling more than one application form: NTA cancels such candidates, even later.
  • Paying and not checking for the confirmation page: if it does not appear, check with your bank; if the payment failed, pay again before the last date.
  • Uploading someone else's photograph or signature, or a blurred document: it is treated as unfair means, and corrections are allowed only in the correction window.
  • Leaving it to the last evening: the site is busiest on the last day. Apply and pay well before 22 November.
